Golf in United Arab Emirates

Dubai and Abu Dhabi combine floodlit evening golf, tournament venues and large city hotels.

The United Arab Emirates built a golf scene around tournament venues and city hotels rather than remote resorts, which makes it unusual: most courses are a short taxi ride from central Dubai or Abu Dhabi, and several offer floodlit play into the evening. Conditioning is consistently high because courses are intensively managed, and layouts are generally generous off the tee with desert waste areas as the main hazard. The playing season runs from October to April, when daytime temperatures are comfortable; midsummer golf is limited to very early morning or floodlit night rounds. Dress codes and booking systems are formal, buggies are standard, and visitors should book tee times in advance during the winter tournament season.

Best time to play: October to April; midsummer is limited to early morning or floodlit evening rounds.
