Thailand is one of the best value golf destinations in Asia and the culture of the game there is distinctive: caddies are standard at almost every course, and rounds are unhurried. Bangkok has a large cluster of courses within reach of the city, Hua Hin on the gulf coast is the most established golf town, Phuket suits golf combined with a beach holiday, and Chiang Mai in the north is cooler with mountain backdrops. Conditioning at the better clubs is high and green fees are usually well below equivalent quality in Europe or North America. The cool dry season from November to February is the most comfortable; the monsoon months bring heavy but often short afternoon rain and much lower rates.
