Tee times at the best known courses are usually booked months ahead through ballot or advance reservation, and many clubs welcome visitors on set days. Weather rather than temperature governs the season: wind and daylight matter more than heat. Expect firm turf, running approach shots and walking golf, often with a caddie rather than a cart.
