Golf in Bahamas

Short flights from Florida, warm winters and a handful of well kept resort courses.

The Bahamas suit short golf trips because the flight from south Florida is under an hour and the main resort courses are close to Nassau and Paradise Island. Golf here is resort golf: well conditioned, playable for mixed groups and usually part of a wider holiday that includes beaches and dining. Wind off the Atlantic is the main defence on exposed layouts, and salt tolerant grasses give firm run out in the dry months. Out islands add quieter options but need extra internal flights, so most first trips stay near Nassau. Winter is peak season and tee times fill quickly around holidays, while summer is hot and humid with afternoon storms and noticeably lower rates.

Best time to play: November to April for peak conditions; summer is humid with afternoon storms.
