Designed by John Bredemus with later Perry Maxwell work in 1936, Colonial is a par-70 tree-lined parkland course along the Trinity River. It hosted the 1941 U.S. Open and the 1991 U.S. Women's Open, and has been a PGA Tour host site, now the Charles Schwab Challenge, since 1946. Narrow, tree-flanked fairways demand accuracy over length. It is a private club, with access by member invitation.
