Southern Hills Golf Course is a municipal eighteen in the southern Black Hills above Hot Springs, South Dakota. The par-72 layout climbs through ponderosa pine and open hillside meadow, with roughly two hundred feet of elevation change producing downhill tee shots, uphill approaches, and several holes where the sensible play is well short of the green. Greens are medium-sized and generally receptive, and the mountain air adds noticeable carry. It is fully public with reasonable green fees, cart rentals, a driving range, and a grill, making it a common stop for travelers heading to Wind Cave and Mount Rushmore. The season runs from spring into late fall.
