The Links of North Dakota sits above Lake Sakakawea in the far northwest of the state and is the closest thing to true prairie links golf in the region. Stephen Kay routed the par-72 course over treeless rolling grassland, with firm fescue fairways, blowout-style bunkering, and greens open in front so run-up shots are always an option. There are no trees and no houses, so wind is the sole defense and it routinely swings scoring by ten strokes. Yardage exceeds 7,000 from the back tees but the ground game shortens it considerably. The course is public, highly walkable, and typically open from May through October.
