The Champions Course at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville is the Lexington-area venue that hosted the PGA Tour's Barbasol Championship. The par-72 layout runs through Kentucky bluegrass horse country with mature trees, limestone creek beds, and water in play on several closing holes. Large bentgrass greens are moderately contoured and kept quick, and generous fairway width off the tee gives way to demanding angled approaches over bunkering. Terrain is gently rolling and comfortable to walk. The club is private with member and guest access, supported by a full practice range, short-game complex, and clubhouse dining, and it plays from early spring into late fall.
