The Harvester Golf Club sits on rolling farmland northeast of Des Moines and is widely rated among Iowa's best public courses. Keith Foster routed the par-72 layout through timbered ravines and open prairie ridges, using severe natural elevation change and a serpentine creek instead of heavy bunkering. Fairways are wide off the tee, but the big, boldly contoured greens create difficult second putts and demand attention to approach angle. The course has hosted USGA qualifying and state championships and remains genuinely public with walk-up availability outside peak weekends. Amenities include a full practice facility and clubhouse dining, with the main season running April through late October.
