Opened in the 1980s in the Matanuska Valley, Palmer Golf Course plays beneath the Chugach and Talkeetna ranges about 40 miles north of Anchorage. Par 72 at roughly 7,000 yards, it is one of Alaska's longest layouts, with gently rolling terrain, birch stands and glacier views. The short northern season runs from May to September, and it operates as a daily-fee public course open to residents and visitors.
